The guard starts to take a deep breath, clearly ready to blast you with some more vitriol when the guard that rolled his eyes steps between the pair of you. “The Temple eh? I’ll make sure you get there without getting into any trouble.” The other guard scoffs, and waves his hand dismissively past you. The friendlier guard gestures toward the High Gate, and falls in beside you as you enter the tunnel through the wall. “Sorry about him.” He says simply.

"I'm far more used to it than one probably should be." She said with a simple shrug as she walked along beside him. She doubted the other guard could really come up with something to insult her as she had heard it all before, being born in a mostly human city she had been ridiculed and bullied all of her childhood and had given up caring about the opinion of others a long time ago. " thank you for you assistance though, my intentions are true, I simply wish to go to the temple to pray" she said as she pushed her hair back over her shoulders.

About half way to the Temple the guard stops, "The Temple is straight ahead there. Hope you find what you're seeking." He smiles, "I wouldn't have even stopped you." He shrugs, "Have a good day, and please stay out of trouble or I will never hear the end of it from Randall." He gives you one final wave as the pair of you separate, leaving you to your own devices here in the High District.
You finally take proper stock of your surroundings, first noticing all the people. You thought the people below are dressed well, but even the most poorly dressed person up here looks like a noble. Even with your fine attire you almost feel under dressed. Women walk around with gowns that would normally be reserved for an appointment at court, and the men wear formal suits as if they're going to meet the Duchess herself. You do see a few of the common folk up here, some of which follow along behind one of the rich folk. While others carry heavy items or tools, making their way from one job or another. You see one beggar, with bandages wrapped around his head covering one eye. He's walking quickly toward the gate with his hands in his pockets and his eyes cast at the ground. A trio of guardsmen follow the fellow at a distance, but they don't look like they expect trouble. (Or are causing any, based on your last encounter.)
The High District is amazing, each building you pass seems larger than the last, and more ornate. Most seem like palaces beside the buildings you're used to seeing. Fancifully carved stone gargoyles rest upon the rooftops. Statues stand on pedestals, or spit or pour water in the center of massive stone basins. The buildings have carved stone pillars, or elaborate stonework. Lush gardens and well maintained orchards are on the grounds of every estate you pass. It must take legions of servants and gardeners to keep everything so clean and tidy. Even the cobbles below your feet are tightly linked, and nearly flat. It seems like as soon as one guard patrol passes out of sight, another crosses your path from a different direction. The streets themselves are twice the width as the streets below, and they have half as many people. Nobody here has to jostle another to get where they're going. The alleys you pass would be called streets below. Everything screams wealth, and the prices match. Your eyes nearly pop out of your head when you pass a fancy shop where a dagger cost ten Gold Phoenixs.
You spot a large perfectly round white spherical building. There is a long cylinder sticking out of the roof at an angle. The sphere seems to be made from a single piece of stone, without a seem or join to be had. A few people come and go from the building every few minutes, and by your math if the floors are standard height, it must be really cramped in there. Far too many people have gone in, compared to the amount of space that should be available in there.
The prize at the top of the hill in High District is the Pelorian Light Shrine. With it's vaulted golden domes, and towers a dozen stories high it is truly a marvel to behold. The walls surrounding the temple grounds are surrounded by a twenty foot tall wall, pure white, and seemingly made from a single uncut piece of stone. Magic must have been used in the construction of such a wall.

with a slight wave to the guard who assisted her. she stood just looking around for a bit before heading in the direction of the temple. " Lets see if someone will talk to me." she said softly as she headed for the front door of the temple. It had been a long time since she had been inside a temple. She paused just infront of the door to the temple her gaze drawn upwards to stare at the beautiful building. "pelor grant me strength" she whispered to herself before looking back at the door infront of her.

You approach the Temple wall which has a similar gate to the city itself, though no guards stand outside. Inside the gate you see four acolytes directing people where to go. The Light Shrine compound is made up of a collection of smaller buildings. There is the Temple itself, which is even more resplendent then you thought possible. A hospital building where the rich and poor alike get treatment for whatever is ailing then. A stable, it’s large double doors open to the dozen stalls inside. There is even a small blacksmith building, rhythmic tinging from a hammer can easily be heard from the gate.
The acolyte approaches you, “How can we be of assistance today?”

She turned her attention to the acolyte who approached her and smiled politely. "I wish to pray to Pelor" she said as she glanced back at the temple itself. Even after everything she had been through being inside the temple walls was calming to her as its where she spent all of her childhood. she knew she stood out especially among the rich that lived just outside the temple walls. Her solid white eyes gave her an eerie appearance to most. "and if possible discus a vision with the high light bringer?" she said that part a little quieter so hopefully those who passed by didn't hear. she didn't need anymore trouble while here.

The Temple is a massive structure, a huge central dome with a tower on each of the four corners. The peak of the dome and the tops of each of the four towers are around a hundred feet in the air. Each floor of the towers has tall, but narrow stained glass windows. The main dome is actually a massive piece of stained glass. The first three floors of the Temple are roughly rectangular in shape, with the towers extending up from the forth floor corners.
"The Lord of Light can hear your prayers from anywhere, but if you wish to pray within these hallowed walls you are of course welcome." The Acolyte wears standard clerical vestments, with a bushy brown beard that hangs to his sternum. He seems a bit portly around the mid section. He seems jolly, and his responses all carry a bit of a laugh in his tone. He leads you toward the main temple building, "It has been some time since I've seen an Aasimar. You mentioned a vision, is that what brought you to Clifton?" He pushes open the door to the temple, and you are blown away by the splendor you see before you.
The first chamber has two hallways that lead off to the left and the right. Each hallway has alcoves with art pieces on pillar stands, portraits and paintings of heroic figures in battle scenes hang from the walls between the alcoves. The room spreads out beyond the first ten feet, but the splendor is not lessened one bit. The floor of this anti chamber is all polished stone, with a Pelorian holy symbol that spans some twenty feet across inlaid into the floor. Three sets of polished oak double doors lead into the chapel itself, but your Acolyte guide turns you aside down one of the hallways. "Please wait in here. I will see if the High Light Bringer is available."
You're lead into a small office. A simple desk, with a pair of chairs in front and another behind. A waist high cabinet runs along the wall, and acts as an extension to the desktop. Sitting in the corner of the room is a potted fern. A fern that doesn't belong in this climate, but seems healthy enough in spite of that. You're left to your own devices for a little more than ten minutes, before the door opens once more to admit a young man, with boyish features. He wears an ornate tabard over his existing vestments, and carries a carved staff capped with a golden sun. A symbol that means this man is the High Light Bringer of this Temple. "Light be upon you child. How can I be of service?"

"yes though I'm unsure what exactly I am to do here." she said as she walked along with him, doing her best to keep up as she looked around admiring everything in the temple. Once left in the office she looked around slowly spinning a circle as she studied all that was around her. She was intrigued by the fern that seemed so out of place but knew better than to question things in pelors temples. " light be upon you as well" she responded automatically, a phrase she had not uttered in many years. "I believe I was brought to Clifton for a reason, I came to on the shores after being pushed off my ship by my captain to save me from pirates. I had a vision then and another last night, I was brought here for some reason and hoped you could offer some insight." she said as she looked at him.

He smiles, “Straight and to the point, I like that. With this being our first time meeting, allow me to introduce myself.” He places a hand on his chest, “My name is Adam Bridges, though most simply call me the Lightbringer. Officially, I am the High Lightbringer of this Temple.” His voice is soft, more than just youth soft. He carries himself with such easy confidence that you find yourself put at ease. This man has all the answers, or he will find someone that does. At least that’s the feeling you get from the way he carries himself.
He moves around to the single chair, and indicates it with his staff, “May I join you?” He asks, and he even waits for an answer. Even though this whole temple is under his influence. Assuming you allow him to join you, he continues, “With introductions completed, let’s get to the heart of the matter, yes? Visions. Tell me about them please.”
He listens to you tell of your visions, then asks insightful questions. He gets you to tell it all a second time, then repeats back all the details in a third telling. “It seems you’ve been sent to Clifton to help spread Pelor’s Light.” He leans back in his chair, tenting his fingers in front of himself, “Now a command to destroy this man seems pretty straight forward, but does leave some interpretation. Does it mean kill? Maim? Arrest? Ruin financially?” He spreads his tented fingers apart, “What does it mean to you?”

She blushed faintly and glanced away. "Kamiko Ferison" she said softly when he gave his name and nodded for him to take a seat beside her. Explaining everything as he so asked before she looked down at her lap staring down at her fingers."I'm honestly not sure" she said as she looked back up at him. " I guess I need to learn more about the man before I can come to that decision" she said as she watched him.

“Then we have a place to start.” He sits forward now, leaning on the edge of the desk, “Based on what you described, the place in your vision is Adrift Orphanage in the Harbour District. It was recently taken over by a new owner after the last owner past on.” He looks up at the ceiling for a moment, clearly thinking, “If you’re getting visions to destroy this man, I might have to take a closer look at the previous owner’s death. Just to make sure it wasn’t murder instead of natural causes.”
He sits back once more, and pulls a quill, an ink pot, and a fine piece of paper from the desk, “This will provide you some measure of protection from the guards. It will not absolve you from any crimes, but will get you brought to me instead of tossed in a cell.” He sets his seal onto some melted wax, sealing the paper shut before handing it to you.
“If the previous owner was killed, then you’re dealing with the Night Blades and things are a lot more dangerous. They have no problem killing if it suits them. You go investigate the Adrift Orphanage, but be careful about it. If you need a place to stay, you’re welcome to house yourself here free of charge. I also have work for an adventurous type, such as yourself.”
He stands, and you get the feeling that your meeting is coming to a close, “Was there anything else I could help you with?”
Please add Lightbringer’s Warrant to your sheet.

" thank you." she said as she took the letter placing it in her bag as she stood. " I've paid for the week at the well groomed pike but after that I will gladly accept the board and any work you care to send my way." Adjusting her bag over her shoulder she stepped towards the door. " thank you for helping to clear up some of the mystery as to why Pelor kept me alive after I went overboard." She gave a small smile, though it was easy to see the sadness that did linger in her eyes. Keeping herself busy would keep her from dwelling on that which she could not change.

The High Light Bringer opens the door to the chamber, and gestures for you to proceed, as you pass by, he says, “You’re welcome to wander the grounds. If you do, visit the chapel.” A hitch of pride enters his voice as he adds, “I had a hand in the enchantments on the statue. It’s a lot more than it seems.” He smiles then, a shy smile. Almost like he was embarrassed to have... bragged?
Outside the room the bearded acolyte waits off to one side. Adam speaks with him briefly, and he leaves back toward the front gate. Master Bridges gives you one final wave, “Pelor will guide you true. This city, and our Duchess need all the help they can get if we’re to turn back the tide of the Guilds. I’m glad you’re here, Luminant One.” With that, he heads away from you, leaving you to go or stay at your whim.

"thank you " she said and smiled at him and stepped out of the chamber "light be upon you" she said slightly hushed as she headed towards the chapel. A bit intrigued by what he said about the statue. She felt a bit better after talking to the high light bringer, at least she had a place to come and find more work, and people that didn't want to kill her well at least here.

The chapel is a massive vaulted chamber. About two dozen rows of pews are set with an aisle between them all the way to the front, after the first dozen the chamber's roof seems to vanish. As you approach you see that the room extends all the way up to the top of the golden dome you could see outside. The entire room is bathed in the golden light from outside. There is a second floor of pews set above the first, effectively doubling the seating of the first floor. After the rows of pews is an alter area that is raised a few feet. Twin three step staircases lead up to the alter from either side of the room. A decretive rail prevents people from falling off the alter area. Set dead center on the alter is a pulpit, from which the Lightbringer can spread the word of Pelor to the masses. Standing behind the pulpit is a twenty foot tall statue of Pelor himself. The statue is wearing cloth of gold, and is so life like that the hair and clothes seem to move in an unfelt breeze. The entire statue radiates a soft light like a candle, and you can feel a comfortable warmth emanating from the direction of the statue as well. The statues eyes follow you as you cross the room, and you genuinely feel like you're being watched. Every inch of this place is spotless, and polished to a mirror shine. Every item is perfectly symmetrical. The tall, narrow stain glass windows are so beautifully done that they seem alive. Once you reach the center of the room, the golden glow from above draws your eye. The domed ceiling is all golden stained glass, bending and directing the light of the sun to dance across the walls and floor. It's breathtakingly awesome, literally inspiring awe in the viewer. There are pieces of art in alcoves, and tapestries hanging around the room. The building's architecture itself is stunning, all of it working together to draw the eye back to Pelor. This entire building is a show of brilliance, and wealth. It would seem a waste, if not for the fact that you know the clergy here tend to the sick, providing food and clothing to the needy, offering shelter where there is none. Another branch of the church is more militant. Seeking out undead abominations, and laying them to rest. Hunting down those that do evil and bringing them to justice. Pelor Statue

The inside of the chapel left her speechless. Reminding her a bit of the one she had grown up in, but that one hadn't been quiet as ornate as this one was. She walked slowly towards the center, slightly cautious but at the same time she felt safe, a feeling she had long thought gone. For all of the stuff Pelor had seemed to put her through and no matter how much she cursed him or grumbled at him she knew she would always answer to him. Stopping just before the statue she dropped to one knee her head bowing. " Pelor grant me strength do what you have asked of me, guide me on the path to spread the light that you have given me." she whispered her prayer, one she had used since she was a child. even though it felt like her requests often fell on deaf ears. She would always trust Pelor. standing slowly she adjusted her bag on her back and just looked up at the statue for a few minutes, as if hoping for some response but knowing she probably wouldn't get a response from him, well not while she was awake anyway.

As you finish your prayer, you sense the room brighten. You open your eyes, but nothing has changed. You do feel warmer than you did before, and your heart beat quickens. Your muscles all tense simultaneously, but the feeling isn't bad at all. You feel more invigorated than you ever have before. You feel like you could walk all of the stairs, and fight all the battles. You feel drawn toward the south, and downward. The mental pull is toward the Harbour District. Your mind fills with your keepers voice once again. "DESTROY. THE. MAN."

Glancing around the chapel, you don't see anybody watching you. You do feel like you're being watched, but these eyes are sourceless, and everywhere at once. You head out of the chapel, and back through the first chamber with the huge floor symbol. Passing out the doors of the temple itself, you nod at the acolytes as you make your way back into the High District.
You still feel the pull in your mind, and it feels wrong to be walking away from the direction of that pull. You tamp that feeling down, and continue toward the High Gate. Small clusters of people stroll through the streets here, most often in pairs and a few alone. The largest group you see is has about ten similarly dressed younger people, all wearing copper rings on the same finger, being led through the streets by an incredibly well dressed eccentric looking fellow with a plain platinum ring on his finger. He has a dozen pouches hanging from his waist and a few vials set into a sash slug diagonally across his chest. As they pass you overhear the eccentric man say, "... mechanism to other mediums by accounting for Batholomew's Hyperbole and then factoring out any other potential interference from the Aetheric-Elemental cotermination boundaries. Once we..." You have no idea what he is talking about, but it sounds complicated.
Passing through the High Gate, you get a dirty look from the guard that harassed you before and a nod from the friendly one. The High Road is strangely empty, with only a pair of nobles flanked by two sets of armsmen walking toward the High Gate. The Harbour Gate is busy as it always is, with a steady stream of humanity making their way to wherever they're going. Once you turn into the Harbour Gate, the pull stops feeling wrong in your mind. With each beat of your heart you can feel the pull in your mind throb, drawing you ever forward toward whatever awaits you.
You descend the Stair, but turn off a few streets before the Well Groomed Pike. A few minutes later you find yourself standing across the street from a large two story structure with severe architecture. Unlike your vision, there are no children sized faces filling the upper windows now. The property is fairly large, with a twelve foot tall wrought iron fence. The top two feet of the fence is barbed, and angled back toward the house. There is a gate, and a crushed gravel path that leads from the gate to the front door. To either side of the path are well maintained gardens. You see children dressed in drab clothes tending to the gardens, heads down and working fast.
Standing in the middle of the path is a tall, lanky man with short cropped brown hair. His back is turned, so you can't see the long shaggy beard, and thick sideburns you know that this man has. He wears dark brown leathers, with silver studs and buckles. He is currently making pointed gestures with his cane at one of the children, you suspect he is talking but you are too far away to hear him.

She stood just studying him and the layout of the building the best she could and counting how many kids she could see outside not sure how many more were still inside. walking closer she called out to the man" Excuse me what is this place?" she asked politely to the man standing in the middle of the path. She was being told to destroy him and yet she couldn't just kill someone whom had done nothing wrong and if he had, Pelor hadn't told her what he had done exactly. She had a feeling it had something to do with the way he treated the children.

You see about a dozen children outside the building, and you have no idea how many are still inside. The building itself is a wide two story structure with it's main entrance in the center of the building. There are rows of windows on both floors. The windows are set equal an distance apart, leading you to think that the building is divided into many small rooms. The man finishes chastising the child, and then leans heavily on his cane. He continues to observe the area, and the children working within it as a noble would survey their kingdom. The children hunker down and do their best to not draw attention to themselves. Any child that fall under the man's directed supervision works a little faster then they were before.
As you approach and call out to the man, he turns around and limps toward the gate. Once the two of you are close enough to not have to yell, he says, "Hello there my dear. This is the Adrift Orphanage. We take care of the children that are set adrift when the unthinkable happens to their parents." He leans on his cane again, seeming at his ease, "Was there something I can help you with?"

"no I'm just new to the city and just trying to familiarize myself with everything" she said as looked at him. it was obvious this was the guy that she was supposed to destroy but she hadn't seen him do anything wrong and didn't exactly know how Pelor wanted her to destroy him. Reaching for her silver tear drop earing she rubbed her thumb over it lightly. Watching the children and seeing that they were a bit scared she had a feeling that there was more hidden behind the doors.

He smiles warmly, "Ah, a newcomer. Welcome to Clifton my dear." He waves his cane in a circle above his head, vaguely gesturing toward the walls the surround the Harbour District. "Have you found yourself a place to stay since you arrived?" He puts his cane back on the ground, and leans heavily upon it once more. A pair of similarly dressed children approach where you are talking with the man from up the street. They carefully slip inside the gate, keeping their heads down and avoiding eye contact with either of you. They head directly toward the front door, not even pausing to speak to any of the other children.

"yes I have thank you. "she said though her intuition told her not to trust this man, watching the children enter her heart ached for them, she knew what it was like to be without parents as her family had been taken from her when she was a child. tucking her hair back over her shoulders she watched as the children for a few moments, something about the man gave her an uneasy feeling and Pelor wanted her to do something to him but she couldn't just kill him in front of the children like this. She would end up in chains, though she did have the note from the high light bringer, she knew it wasn't completely a get out of jail card, so for now she would bide her time. "May pelors light shine on you and the children." she said with a smile as she turned and left, heading back in the direction of the well groomed pike. Though she didn't have an exact destination in mind, she was hoping Pelor would give her some more insight on how exactly he wanted her to destroy him.

The man never greeted, or even glanced at the children as they entered. His attention seems fixed upon you. He does smile as you respond, “I’m so glad. Finding a place to stay here was the toughest thing for me when I arrived. I was lucky to make some new friends that always help me out.”
The children are all sneaking glances at your conversation, but always when the man’s back is turned. One of the children, a waif of a girl with short brown hair tied back with a thin blue ribbon is staring at you. Her eyes begging for you to do something, but whether she wants you to help her escape, or for you to just leave you can’t be sure.
“And also with you.” He responds smoothly. Something about how he responds rings... not untrue, but routine maybe? Like he has said that so many times it has become an automatic response. You’re not certain that he means as he says, though you also don’t think he is trying to deceive you either.
You wander off into the streets of the Harbour district, turning this way, and ascending those stairs. Crossing that road, and waiting for that carriage to pass. You find yourself near the mouth of an alley. Inside the alley are four brutish looking Half-Orcs. A hand made, roughly painted sign bolted to the wall reads “Tusker’s Alley”

She hadn't really been paying attention to where she was going so when she ended up near the alley she was a bit surprised as her mind had been focused on the encounter with the man, something about him was unsettling to her and with what Pelor was asking of her she wasn't truly sure how to accomplish it. glancing at the orcs and then at the sign she quickly looked down knowing she probably stood out because of her eyes, she just hoped that this wasn't going to end badly

The four Half-Orcs notice you standing near the mouth of the alley. They all stop leaning or sitting, and their conversation comes to a close. They all stare at you, their eyes hard though they make no move to the cudgels at their side. You get the feeling that you are not welcome there. Glancing to the sides to figure out where to go instead, you catch a glimpse of the girl with a thin blue ribbon as she skulks into the mouth of another alley about a half a block down. Based on her movements, you think she might be following you. Your attention is snapped back to the alley by a brutish voice calling out, "You look lost. Maybe Brah teach you where you belong." Gruff chuckles from the others lead you to think that that would not be pleasant for you.

Glancing over at them she steps back. "Not looking for any trouble." She says as she quickly hurries past the alley, not looking to get into any trouble, especially when she knew the odds weren't in her favor, plus she had a child that seemed to be following her. She couldn't risk her getting hurt either. Careful to keep an eye on where she was going this time she figured she should head back towards the well groomed pike. Her stomach was beginning to grumble in hunger from all the walking today plus she was hoping the child would show herself finally.

It takes you a few turns before you get near the stair that runs up the center of the Harbour District. Once there it is easy enough to orient yourself toward the Well Groomed Pike. As you walk you see the little girl pop out of cover from time to time. She is still following you, but to what end? Is she stalking you to tell the man where you are staying? Or is she seeking you out for help? With all the guild activity in Clifton, maybe she’s out to rob you? You reach where Wharf Road crosses the stair, where do you go?

when she realized the child was still following her she decided to confront the girl. she didn't want to bring trouble back to the well groomed pike, so if there was going to be troubled she would deal with it now. Turning to face the direction where the girl was hiding " come out now little girl, I know your following me" she said as she crossed her arms over her chest in an intimidating way. this child had followed her for some reason and she intended to find out why now.
