"what if the men comeback?" she asks as she looks to where the water is, not wanting to leave him alone with out back up if the men comeback. "i should have planned for this more.. i just was so caught up in finding a way to save my people. that i didnt think of all the what ifs" her words come out in a rapid jumble as she runs her fingers thru her hair as she tries to not succumb to the panic she feels.

Xanadu shrugs, "If the men return, I will yank on the rope so you know I need a hand and then I'll hold them off until you return." He takes a seat. "While you're gone, I will tend to my wounds and keep the barrel safe." He removes his pack and sets it on the ground beside him, picking through it to grab a snack. "Do you have a way to light your way?"

"not one that will stay lit underwater." she says with a shrug as she starts to tie the rope around her waist, once its secure she heads for the edge of the water. she glances back at xanadu and gives a small smile before heading in to the water. easily dissapearing beneath the surface as she feels the water flow around her.

The water is cold, and dark as the ocean’s depths. Within moments you can’t see a thing. You glance back at the surface and see the wavy visage of the burly Dwarf wrapping a bandage around one of the wounds on his arm. Why that man doesn’t wear armour, you will never understand. He’s definitely strong enough to handle the weight of even the most sturdy plate mail.
Turning your attention to the task at hand you strain your memory and your perception to attempt to find the path ahead.
Skill challenge time. I need 3 perception, and 3 survival checks. I will also need a straight Int check.

(Way to pass each and every roll required.)
Sight is useless in the dark so you close your eyes, and focus on your memory from last time you traveled through these tunnels. Dozens of times your extended hands bump into walls, sometimes painfully, but you make steady progress. That's when you feel it, a stirring in the water. It's slight, but it's a current. Swimming along with the current you're surprised when the rope line goes taught. Opening your eyes, you can actually see a little bit. Looking up you see the surface above you, and you just know this is exactly the place you should be. You anchor the rope in place and backtrack along it until you find Xanadu. The whole process felt like it took minutes, but Xanadu informs you that it's been about an hour.

(the dice roller was in my favor lol)
pushing her hair from her face as she looks at him." well i found the place but ran out of rope. i tied it off so i can follow it back again." she says as she gets out of the water. wringing some of the water from her hair, not realising just how much her skin shimmers like fish scales when she is wet. " any trouble while i was exploring?"

"The only trouble I had while you were gone was with these bloody knots." He says gruffly while gesturing to the various bandages he has tied to each of his wounds. He actually looks a lot better than he did before now that he has stopped bleeding everywhere, and cleaned the blood off of himself. "I checked their pockets while you were gone too. That's your split of the coin, and there are a couple things of note there too."

Xanadu pats the pouch he put his share of the coin into, then picks up the silvered brass mace. "Never know when a silvered weapon might come in handy." Xanadu stands and gathers up his gear, and the barrel. "Hopefully it's not to far, as I can't breath under water." He walks over to the edge of the water, and looks down into it, "Don't get me wrong, I can swim really fast. Just can't breath under there."

"well having the rope as a guide should make it easier to move faster in the water." she says as she makes sure everything is secure and tucks the orb away for now before heading back to the water. walking in till she is about waist deep before turning to look back at him. "shall we?" she asks

Xanadu stands, hoisting the barrel over his shoulder as he wades into the water. Instead of answering, he simply takes a deep breath and dives into the water. His out stretched hand holding the line while his other hand holds the barrel. He begins kicking his feet and vanishes into the abyss like he was a dolphin instead of a Dwarf. You dive in after him, but no matter how hard you swim, you can't catch up to him. When you reach the end of the line you see Xanadu sitting on the surface tending to his gear. When you pop out of the water, he holds a finger to his lips, and whispers, "We're not alone."

Seeing as he is always ahead of her, she makes a note to ask him how in the world he can swim so fast with all his gear still on... Realizing she has fallen behind she pushes on trying to catch up quickly, breaking the surface not long after him but he is already on shore and talking about how they aren't alone. so she immediately drops down a bit in the water, blending in just enough that if you didn't know she was there it would be hard to spot her as she slowly looks about the room trying to spot who it is he is talking about in the room with them as there wasn't anyone here earlier and it must mean there was another way in and out of this room cause no one had gone past them.

As you reach the end of the tunnel, your skin begins itch and burn.
(You once again take a point of acid damage. If you continue to hide in the water you will take another point of acid damage each round)
Your head breaks the surface of the water, and you heed Xanadu's warning to be quiet. Scanning the room you see that the sickly green lichen and stagnant pools are where they were last time. The large marble plinth dominates the center of the room, still covered in it's treasures. Ignoring the static elements of the room, you look around for signs of life and manage to see a half dozen men, five of whom are standing in a half circle around a familiar face. The leader of the men that attacked you before is speaking quietly to the other five men near the plinth.

carefully she makes her way towards where xanadu is. slipping easily out of the water and staying low to the ground much like a lizard coming out of the water as she watches the men. looking for possibly a way to sneak up on them since there is no way the two of them can take on 6 people after fighting not long ago. Hesitant to move much or to quickly without alerting the men, she looks to xanadu with a look of what now? relying heavily on his previous battles for guidance in this situation.

Xanadu touches the hilts of his various weapons and smiles behind his beard. Seems like he is okay to fight again, though you're not sure how after that last battle. Glancing at the wet bandages that cover his wounds, it seems like he has entirely stopped bleeding. The men up on the plinth nod to their apparent leader and take a couple steps away from the group before a familiar voice fills the chamber. "WE HAVE UNINVITED GUESTS." The men all draw their weapons and look around the room.

"well so much for the element of surprise" she whispers to xanadu as she looks at the other men before standing and stepping away from xanadu, trying to keep their attention strictly on her and give xanadu an advantage against the men.

As you stand Xanadu looks surprised, and makes a vexed sound in his throat as he presses himself to the floor. The men catch sight of the movement, call out to each other and point their weapons in your direction. The apparent leader calls down to his men as they approach, “Our master said guests, and this one was traveling with a Dwarf before. Find him.” Then the leader and half the men start to approach you as you walk away from Xanadu. “What exactly is your plan here woman?” The man asks again, “You’ve gone through a lot of trouble to get back here only to die. What did you hope to achieve?”

She shrugs as she continues to put as much distance as possible between herself and xanadu, pleased that the other men are following her. " who's to say i had a plan? or anything to achieve." she says as she steps around one of the pools of water that she knew was acidic just like the rest of the water."though i am curious as to how you all got down here faster than me." she says as she looks towards their leader then back at the other men watching them curiously.

The leader shakes his head, "Knock her out instead." He says casually to his companions, "Our master will want answers, and he has ways of getting them that will make you wish for death." The last he says loud enough that you get the feeling that he was speaking to you directly. The three men with the leader separate more, and you realize that they're weaving around the ponds too. Not to long from now (2 turns) they will have positioned themselves in such a way as to give you no avenue to escape unless you climb the walls, fly or dive into the water.
Behind these men, you see the other three men approaching where Xanadu was hiding. Xanadu slips back into the pond you just exited, completely ignoring the burning you know he must be feeling now. As long as the men don't look too closely, they might not see him in the water.
What are you doing now?

Glancing around she looks for the barrel that they brought with them, planning to get to it and disperse the liquid in it to neutralize the acid but she wasnt sure if she had enough time especially with the men backing her towards a corner at this point. "im sure your mister... master knows more about me than you do.. though im still not sure why he is so interested in me...." she says as non-chalantly as possible as she tries to circle back around to where the barrel is (if its even in the room)

The barrel is sitting where Xanadu left it, beside the pool you exited and where Xanadu is currently hiding. As you note the barrel's location. Xanadu pops up out of the water and slams his pick into the forehead of one of the men as they glance down into the water. The man crumples, splashing heavily into the water as Xanadu climbs out. The other two converge on him in an instant. As if that were a signal, the three men that were trying to entrap you abandon caution and close in on you abruptly. One man even jumps over a pond to reach you sooner. The leader hangs back, loading a crossbow and aiming it in Xanadu's direction. Though he doesn't take a shot just yet.

15+2=17 a muttered curse slips past her lips as she reaches for her staff on her back, drawing her magic to the surface. A comforting tingle spreads over her body as her magic comes to the surface and the air around her becomes damp with moisture. bringing her staff over her head and down infront of her with a simple flourish of movement as she faces the three attackers. "this is for neptas" she whispers as she charges towards the one closest to her. a greenish glow surrounding her staff as she casts shillelagh on it.

Xanadu knocks aside the weapon of his first attacker, and drives his pick into their shoulder. As they stagger back, he smoothly pivots his shoulder into the side of the second man. The second man hits Xanadu with his sword, but since Xanadu closed the gap there was no power behind the strike. You meet the charge, slamming your magically infused staff into the head of your first opponent. He staggers, but manages to keep his feet. He slashes toward your belly, but you leap back slamming into one of the other two as they approach. One of their blades slashes across your arm as the lot of you untangle, but the other staggers and falls into the pool to your left.
The leader fires his crossbow at Xanadu, but misses as his companions dodge and fight. He reloads, and fires again with the same result. Xanadu shoves one of the men backward, then pivots and slams his pick into his already wounded attacker. The man's knees go out and he collapses in a heap. With only a single opponent, Xanadu turns to him with a growl on his lips, "You're next." He says pointing his blood soaked pick at the man.

You swing your quarterstaff at the man's head, but he pulls back and the blow sails just in front of his face. Checking your swing, you thrust forward and ram the end of your weapon into his nose so hard that it crunches audibly. His eyes roll into the back of his head as he collapses backward onto the ground. You press your advantage and step over the fallen man, only to stumble forward as his companions take advantage of your distraction to slash across your side and back. Clearly shaken, the fellow attacking Xanadu swings his blade in wide arcs to try and keep the seething Dwarf at bay. The leader shoots Xanadu in the back of his shoulder, the bolt sticks out of his flesh but the Dwarf doesn't seem to notice as he advances on the scared man. Xanadu swings his pick down at the man, and he brings up his blade to block the attack. His sword is forced down, and the pick sinks deeply past his collar bone. With a gurgling shout the third man collapses.

Hissing in pain as she turns to face the men behind her. dropping her staff as she summons her magic to her, a blade of flames appears in her hands and fury burns in her eyes as she attacks striking at one of them (which ever hit her back). pain radiating thru her body as her blood runs from the wounds but she does her best to not focus on the pain but on rather ending this

You recover your feet smoothly, pivoting as the fiery blade springs into existence. You turn the motion of the pivot into a quick stab. The smell of burnt flesh sears your nose as the blade sinks into the man's chest. His blade falls to the ground, your blood still covering the metal thickly. The last man steps back carefully, his blade raised to defend himself. Once he has enough of a gap to avoid your flaming blade, he turns and sprints off toward the plinth. The leader fires his crossbow into Xanadu again, before he too retreats to the plinth. "You best keep running fools!" Xanadu shouts at the men. Without turning his attention from their retreating forms, Xanadu says, "Can we get what you need to do done before they return?" with a lowered voice that shouldn't carry to the men.

You pry and struggle, but the barrel refuses to open. Xanadu's pick punches a hole in the top of the barrel readily enough. "I've got this lass. Where do you want me to pour it?" You lead Xanadu to the correct pool, where he dumps the contents of the barrel. If the mage you spoke with is correct, this should fix the PH level of the pool, and stop it from leeching through the current to Neptas. You may have just saved your people. Now it's time to save yourself. This pool is not safe to exit out of like you did last time. Not only would Xanadu drown before he reached air again, but the chemical reaction that's taking place would be uncomfortable. What's your plan?
