Upon reaching the researchers house and knocking on the door there is no answer and it seems he isnt home, perhaps he is out studying lizard folk or gathering info of something, looks like you will have to come back later.

Xanadu seeks out a piece of paper, asking for it from the first store clerk or servant he sees in the local area. Once located he writes out his request and leaves it for the man. At least if he comes home he can respond if he wishes. Then he heads back to the Temple. He really needs a bath, and a little break from sleeping rough. His gear is still in excellent condition, but a deep cleaning wouldn’t be the worst idea.

The trip back to the temple is quiet aside from the normal hustle and bustle of the streets and no one stops to bother you when you enter the temple letting you reach your room easily. shortly after you reach your room a knock comes at your door and upon being granted entrance a few of the temple members bring in a large basin and buckets of hot water, setting up a bath for you extremely quickly before leaving the room, perhaps a gift from the wyrmspeaker so that you dont have to bath with the other disciples in the communal bathroom.

Xanadu laughs to himself after the acolytes have left. “Do I stink that bad?” He says quietly. He gives a little tester sniff, and pulls back in disgust. “Yes, yes I do.” He wafts his hand across in front of his face to clear the stink before he starts pulling off his gear.
After his bath, he dressed in simple travel clothes to take buckets of his filthy bath water to the gardens around the Temple. Once the tub is as empty as he can make it, he cleans the dark ring from inside the tub itself. It had been a while since he had bathed in something other than big water or Wyvern blood.
He spends the rest of the day in quiet contemplation, thinking deeply on his current issue and trying to find a solution that makes sense. He also looks back across what he has already managed to accomplish since coming to Clifton. He was proud of those accomplishments. Soon enough he might be able to afford his next piece of gear at this rate. At an estimated four hundred gold per Wyvern killed, with five under his belt he has brought in two thousand gold to the Temple.

The acolytes have been told to leave you to your thoughts so they are careful not to disturb you except when they bring you lunch and then again at dinner taking away your old tray and bringing you a hot meal.

Xanadu actually spends very little time in his room. He tends to his gear, giving it the through cleaning you can only manage while you're not sleeping rough. He does chores around the Temple to earn his keep. He practices his weapon forms. Since he's now got quite a few weapons, practice to keep his skills sharp with all of them is taking more and more time. If the Wyrmspeaker is available, Xanadu will help him with his research on the Wyvern activity or the strange goop he found. Other than that and getting lost in his own thoughts he rests for a few days. He had been going pretty hard for the last couple weeks, and it felt good to relax a little.

Over the course of your rest word spreads threw clifton about the wyverns seeming to dissapear and many people flock to the wyvern straits to investigate, some return with tales of seeing odd creatures there tearing apart wyvern. Though whether they are just tales being told over a pint or actual truth is hard to tell. Some speak of human like creatures others say they were lizard folks. oddly enough the researcher never contacts you if anything it seems he is missing aswell.

Xanadu finishes his vacation of sorts. His gear now well tended, clean and fully repaired. Xanadu left the Wyrmspeaker alone for a few days, which has hopefully been long enough to allow him to complete his research. Today, his curiosity got the better of him and he makes his way to the Wyrmspeaker's chambers at dawn. Knock, knock, knock-knock. "Sorry to disturb you Wyrmspeaker, I was just curious how your research has been developing?"

" come in." he calls out as he looks up from his desk. a large assortment of books seem to be spread across his desk and it would seem he had been deep in his research." unfortunately nothing useful in the books, rumors from the city of strange sitings but i havent the disiples to send and investigate as ive sent extra help to those building the temple in the swamps." he says as he looks back down at his books. switching the one infront of him for a different one. "perhaps you could investigate these sightings and find out if there is any truth in them." he looks up from his books waiting for your answer.

Xanadu nods, "Of course. I wouldn't expect you to spend resources on this for me." Xanadu comes around the desk, scanning the open pages to see if anything jumps out at him. "Just tell me what you need me to do and it will be done." Xanadu looks at his Wyrmspeaker, waiting to learn the next step in his journey.

"travel back to the wyvern straits and see if any of these rumors of strange lizard creatures are true, perhaps they are whats driving the wyvern from the area." he said as he looks up at you once more.

Xanadu gives a curt nod, "I will do as you have requested. I really want to get to the bottom of this situation. The researcher may stop by looking for me, I left him a note at his residence." Xanadu moves toward the door, before turning back to the Wyrmspeaker, "Thank you for your help with this." Xanadu gives a rare smile toward his mentor, then heads out the door. Once outside of the room, Xanadu heads back to collect his equipment and refresh his supplies. Once he's sorted, he heads out of the city. He plans on doing another circle of the Wyvern Straight, only this time he will head back straight across overland instead of following the river.

the trip threw town is uneventful though occasionally you see carts with claw marks and sheilds half destoryed by acid. perhaps there is something to the rumors being spread around clifton.

Xanadu will stop each and every person with evidence of claw marks or acid damage to ask them what happened. Where it happened and how long ago. He has a pretty good lay of the land beyond the walls along the Wyvern Straight, and he wants to attempt to track where the creature is so he can find it himself.

the stories you get are a melting pot of mixed up tales, some say it was wyverns that oozed acid, others say it was lizard folk that had wings and others say the creatures stood on all for but looked as if they could walk upright like a man but with a wyvern head. you could spend all day gathering stories but each seems more farfetched than the last.

Since nothing these people say seems to make any sense regarding the creature, Xanadu puts his attention on to the where. He tries to get as detailed a picture in his mind as to where he needs to go so he can encounter the thing himself. Then he does just that, exiting Clifton once again in an attempt to locate and potentially destroy another dangerous creature. This time it's something dangerous enough to scare off adult Wyvern. "This should be interesting." Xanadu says to himself as he walks down the road out of town.

the locations of where are as varied as the discripton though they all circle around the wyvern straight but give no better information than any of the other stories. the guards greet you as usual as you leave town and head along the road. the further you get from clifton the quieter it seems to be as if even nature is scared of what ever this is. as you enter the wyvern straight you can see some of the broken carts and claw marks that were described by some of the people in town.

Xanadu stops at each cart or other piece of evidence. Examining the gouge marks for size and depth to get an idea of how big the creature is that he’s looking for. His path might wander from evidence to evidence, but is journey as a whole will take him straight across the Wyvern Straight. ’Why would people bring carts here at all? Looking for glory, or a swift death I’d say. Nothing but Wyvern or a thing that hunts Wyvern out here. Maybe some Lizardfolk, but I hope I’ve put an end to their violence.’

from what you can gather it looks like the creature is bigger than a normal lizardfolk but not as big as a wyvern. but it definetly has characteristics of both as seen by the claw marks and the various acid burns as you get further and further down the straight. there are more signs of fighting and even the dead carcass of a wyvern that looks as if it has been torn to shreds.

Xanadu will take the time to carefully butcher the Wyvern body. Taking the extra time and care required to avoid any acid left on the corpse. Even if the hide is not usable, the meat will surely come in handy when hunting, or to feed the people of Clifton.
With his grisly work completed, he continues after his quarry. Ever watchful of the skies for more Wyvern, or the area around him for whatever has been successfully hunting them.

for a while it seems what ever was attacking them is gone as its quiet and there is no more carnage till a strange sound can be heard. it sounds like a wyvern and yet almost like a humans voice mixed together. its bone chilling and eerie and very out of place for the otherwise clear day.

Xanadu activates his boots, rising into the air about ten feet to get a better look around at his surroundings. His focus is primarily focused on where he heard the noise coming from, but he is not foolish enough to ignore the other directions either. Weapon in one hand, and shield strapped to his arm he is ready for anything.

the roar echos again.......... it seems to come from every where echoing all around you but you know that its coming from the path to your right, a very narrow path along the cliffs edge, unpassable by a cart or wagon so often over looked.....

Xanadu flies over the path, hoping that the creature wasn’t watching him while he was in the open. If he can get behind it he might be able to pull some advantage to this situation.

all seems quiet and there seems to be nothing there till suddenly something comes flying at you..... you manage to dodge it completely and the large spiked dart goes flying past you and dissapears over the edge of the cliff. where the dart came from its hard to tell till you round the corner and come face to face with something..... before you stands well more like hunched over a green scaled creature thats almost the size of a small wyvern but stands more upright like a human or lizard folk would. a large tail drags across the ground ending in well where that spiked dart looks to have come from as another seems to be taking its place as a green slimey ooze drips from the tip, the face of this thing looks like a cross between a wyvern and a lizard folk but its eyes are human like. it lets out a massive roar bearing its razor sharp teeth at you.

“If you’re sentient, now would be the time to mention it. You seem to hate Wyvern almost as much as I do. We could work together against them. I can’t have you attacking the people of Clifton, so if it’s violence you want, it’s violence you shall get.” He repeats himself in the languages he knows to cover his bases.
Xanadu readies himself against another attack, prepared to strike the creature if it continues to attack him.

Something in the creatures eyes gives away that it understands you and yet it seems to be struggling with itself as it grabs at its head before letting out a pain filled roar, it seems to be stuck between fleeing and fighting as if there are two minds inside itself fighting for control, it suddenly goes still and its posture shifts to that of a predator tracking its prey, gone is the human like quality to its eyes as it focuses on you. it seems to be staring you down.

it seems almost unfazed as you sink your blade into its side, green ooze seeps from the wound and as it drips on the ground a slight hiss can be heard. It continues to stalk towards you, its head jerking to the side slightly almost as if possesed in a way, its tail swishing behind it as it quickly flicks it up over its shoulder sending a spiked dart flying at you.

Xanadu shakes his head as the creature approaches. “We don’t have to do this.” He says in Draconic. As the creature continues to approach, he slashes it across the chest, then casually knocks aside the tail barb with his shield. “I kill Wyvern, you kill Wyvern.” Xanadu pivots, and slashes the creature again. “Come to your senses, I know you can hear me!”

Another pain filled roar comes blasting at you, with it the scent of hot rotting flesh from its breath as it closes the distance now bleeding from two wounds that would slow any normal creature at least to some degree but it still seems unfazed as it strikes out with its claws. this close xanadu can see the struggle it seems to be having with its self as it almost hesitates to strike.
