You wander the trail for most of the day but only catch glimps of wyverns very high in the sky, other than the nesting mother none seem to be around and the ones up in the air are way out there. its odd that none have come to land at all... perhaps they are aware of your presence and avoiding you... but that would be strange given how territorial they normally are.

Xanadu will yell at the Wyvern in Draconic, “Come and fight me you cowards!” If they’re close enough to land that he thinks he can get to them by flying, he will take to the sky to bring another of his foes down today.

none of them are close enough for you to get to even with your flying ability and the few that you did spot in the air soon enough dissapear from your line of sight, where have they all gone to...

Xanadu is a little disappointed at the lack of Wyvern haunting the cliffs along the Wyvern Straight. He would have to go attack them at their nests in the sea stacks off shore. He was reluctant to hire a ship though, in case he inadvertently attracted the attention of the largest Wyvern.
Tonight he will camp along the coast, so he needs to find a place with an overhang to make camp. He doesn’t want a Wyvern to do to him what he did to that last one.

once you find a place to make camp you hear a few wyvern calling out here and there and yet none still seem to come close and the calls that you hear almost sound distressed which is odd because wyvern are well wyvern....

Xanadu listens to their cries, and wonders if they consider him a rival out for their territory. In a way he is. “Even if you give me the main land as my turf, I will still come for you.” He says to the night sky. “It’s only a matter of time.” With that pleasant thought he gets ready for bed. “Bahamut, please give me the strength to see this through. I will be your champion, and protect the people of Clifton from the threat of Wyvern along their shores.” He prays from his bedroll, and drifts off to sleep.

your sleep is restless and filled with flashes of that fatefull day but also with flashes of your new friends sometimes dieing at the jaws of wyvern other times sometimes slaying the beasts beside you, though the strangest ones are of the mage who you gave the lizard folk to, those dont hold much except that odd look in his eyes when you gave him the crystal. when you wake you feel as if your mind hasnt rested and is sluggish and slow even though you did infact sleep all night.

Xanadu readies himself for the day, carefully tending to his gear and disassembling the encampment. Once he has eaten and everything is prepared, he moves out of the outcropping. He scans the skies for signs of Wyvern, ever watchful of ambush. He will spend the next three days walking the entire length of the coastline from Clifton to the mouth of the river. He will spend the entire time looking for signs of Wyvern, tracking them back to their nests or otherwise hunting them down.

during your trip you come across nests and the signs of fighting with blood and some scales scattered about and the crys of the wyverns seem to become even more distressed before you wake on the third day and its quiet. eerily so and there seems to be no wyverns anywhere. though the scent of blood hangs faintly in the air.

Xanadu breaks camp quickly, eating as he travels to save time. He doubles back, but this time traveling straight back toward Clifton along the river. 'This is strange. Where have all the Wyvern gone? It's not like they knew I was coming for them. I have to consult the Wyrmspeaker.' With that Xanadu begins the two day journey back to Clifton. He keeps his eyes out for more Wyvern, or signs of their habitation.

along the way you pass a few nests though they are empty, the few egg shells that remain are oddly colored for wyvern eggs, but it just could be the egg of a different type of wyvern perhaps though adding in the lack of wyvern something isnt adding up. not far from the last nest you pass lays a carcass or well what seems to be a wyvern carcess, though it seems to be covered in an odd ooze.
(do you stop to investigate?)

Xanadu carefully examines each nest, and battle site he comes across. Trying to put the pieces together as to what happened to the Wyvern. 'What kind of predator could hunt a Wyvern?' Then he smiles a little before adding out loud, "Aside from me." When he comes across the carcass he keeps his distance, ever wary of an ambush. He circles the corpse, checking it out from all angles before he approaches to investigate.

The ooze is odd but not familar at all, perhaps the wyrm speaker or the mage would be able to tell you more, it definetly doesnt seem natural like say moss or algae would and it is certainly a strange place for it to be if it is a moss or algae.

As is his usual practice, Xanadu heads back to his temple to keep his Wyrmspeaker appraised of his progress, and in this case ask for his advice. He has never seen Wyvern act like this, and has no idea why they would all vanish so abruptly. What was with the weird ooze? So many questions and no answers to be found.
When he arrives at the Temple, he seeks out the Wyrmspeaker and tells him everything that occurred since he left. “Have you seen anything like this before?”

The wyrmspeaker listens intently to everything that xanadu has to say before turning towards his small bookshelf and walking over to it searching his books for a few moments." i have never heard of wyvern acting like that or even what that ooze is. this is all very strange. perhaps our great one bahamut has answers, perhaps praying to him might give you the answers you seek. i will of course do my own research and see if i can learn anything about it." he says as he picks up a dusty old book and starts flipping the pages as if looking for something.

Xanadu nods, “I pray each day at dawn and dusk, though I’m afraid I don’t share the direct connection with Bahamut that you do.” Xanadu moves to stand beside the Wyrmspeaker, “Maybe one day I will become a proper Vassal of Bahamut. I’ve read the histories, perhaps one day I will do something great enough to draw Bahamut’s attention.” Xanadu pauses to think for a minute. Then adds, “I could ask that researcher. Maybe they’ve read something in their studies. Failing that Incould try the mages guild.”

"he speaks when we are ready to listen and only then, he will come in time when he feels you are ready to listen, your heart is heavy and it weighs on your mind, perhaps that is why he hasnt spoken because you are unable to listen." he said as he closes the book and puts it back before picking up a different one and searching threw that one. "i mean no insult simply some advice, there are other ways to listen than just your ears." he said giving a knowing glance at xanadu before turning back to the book in his hands.

"Aye. I understand. My rage and my grief often cloud my thoughts. Doesn't leave much room for anything else." Xanadu shrugs, "I will leave you to your research. I'm going to go check with those other sources. Thank-you Wyrmspeaker." Xanadu carefully sets out another roll of Wyvern hide. He smirks a little, shrugging as he picks his backpack back up. Xanadu takes his leave of the Temple of Bahamut, heading over to the Mages Guild or the researchers house, whichever is closer.

he nods and gives a slight wave of parting as he turns and walks to his desk engrossed in his book and what ever it is he is reading. the mages guild lies to the right a good distance or the researchers house lies to the left only closer by a few mere houses, though there is no guarantee that the researcher is home as he was in a hurry the last time you spoke with him.

Xanadu leaves the Temple and checks the position of the sun. If he has time to do both before the Mages Guild ends visiting hours, then he will do the researchers house first. If not, Mages Guild first. Regardless of the direction, he sets off at a brisk pace.

knowing that the mages guild only has limited hours and days for visiting hours you head there first, hopefully some one there will have answers for you. As you walk you easily fall in with the rest of the traffic as others go about their days, the sounds of merchants selling their wares and the clip clop of horses hoofs on the cobblestone roads echos all around you. After a few flights of never ending stairs and what almost seems like forever walking you finally reach the mages guild. The large building looms over head as you approach.

Xanadu walks along the streets of the High District, silently observing the nobles and those that serve them. The few people that come from the other districts keep their heads down, and move quickly to whatever purpose brought them here in the first place. When he arrives at the Mages Guild, he enters the dome structure and crosses the short hallway to the reception desk. "Hello there. I'm looking for information. Who should I speak to about Wyvern?" Xanadu assumes a position of ease, waiting for the receptionist to respond.

The receptionist looks up at you for a moment before pointing to the right. "mr.golgon is the expert on wyverns he should be in his office, go threw that door and then follow the hall till you reach the door that looks like wyvern scales." the receptionist thens turn back to what ever they were doing before you walked in.

Xanadu nods to the woman, "You have my thanks." He opens the door, and follows the woman's instructions. Knocking on the wyvern scaled door, he waits for Maser Golgon's response. Once inside he explains what he experienced over his last exploration of the Wyvern Straight.

Mr.golgon listens intently as you tell him about what you saw before he gets up and walks to his book case and selecting a book before returning to his desk once more." hmmm that is very peculiar as there isnt anything out there that the wyverns should be afraid of well except for each other of course but that doesnt explain them dissapearing or the green ooze. did you by chance bring any back with you?" he asked looking up from his book curiously before flipping a few more pages trying to find anything in his notes about such occurences.

Xanadu pulls out a hunk of Wyvern flesh that still has a bit of the green ooze attached to it, and offers it to Master Golgon. "Will this be enough?" Xanadu looks around the office while Master Golgon examines the sample. "If there were several Wyvern deaths in the area recently, would that be enough to trigger a migration?" He looks up at the man before adding, "I've slain five of them in recent days." His tone is proud, but he isn't boasting.

"maybe some of the younger ones might flee for a time but not the larger older ones, they have seen many adventurers come and try to kill them all and fail, so the bigger ones hold no fear of us but this ooze is odd, it isnt natural or something i have seen before. i must consult the others on this. give me a few days and i should have some answers for you." he says and grabs a glass dish from a drawer in his desk and quickly places the skin in it so as to not contaminate it further before taking it over to the table that is covered with various science equipment.

“I will not fail.” Xanadu says simply, “I will personally clear the Wyvern Straight of all the Wyvern.” His words are confident, but he doesn’t sound like he’s boasting. Just a man with a plan, and the determination to get the job done.
“Once you’ve completed your assessment, send word to the Temple of Bahamut. The Wyrmspeaker will know where I am and how to reach me.” Xanadu turns to leave, but pauses, “Thank-you.” With that he opens the door and makes his way out of the Mages Guild.
Once outside he checks the location of the sun, and makes his way to the researchers house. He was studying Lizard Folk, maybe his studies of them can lead him down the right path.
