Symbol : An indistinct outline of a cloaked figure
Alignment : Chaotic Evil
Portfolio : Undeath, destruction, madness
Worshipers : Cultists, necromancers
Domains : Death, Destruction, Evil, Trickery
Favored weapon : Dagger
Appearance : Ergoth appears as a ghostlike figure, wrapped in a ragged cloak. It is said that those who look beneath his hood, and into the hollow eyes of his bare skull, are looking directly into the depths of madness, and may never return.
Dogma : Ergoth appears to not bear just a single dogma, but rather a collection - and none of them are particularly pleasant. He is utterly insane, by all rights, and while he has multiple plots going on at all times, often enough they seem to work against one another. He has been known to tell his priests, rare as they are, to keep away from mass-producing skeletons and zombies one day, and then to turn around and demand a large-scale assault on a city the next. It is rare that his priests follow every demand made of them, and for his part, Ergoth seems not to care, as long as the power he grants furthers the causes of entropy and death in the world.
To that end, he is a confusing figure to many. Where most deities have a plan, some important goal they're trying to meet, Ergoth does not - he wants nothing more than to see the world burn, and will grant power to nearly anyone who promises to help him with that goal. He stands in direct opposition to Nemus, but beyond that deity's reach, as he himself is undead, and thus outside of the Tree of Life's purview.
Clergy and temples : Temples to Ergoth are rare, and when they do exist, tend to take the form of little more than a shrine, or at most a hidden room containing a defiled altar. A full-scale church would be certain to bring down the wrath of at least three other gods, so worship of the Mad One is kept hidden by necessity. That is not to say that it is always quiet, however - particularly when the worshippers are making ritual sacrifices, as Ergoth demands such sacrifices be both alive and awake at the moment of death. It is said that the last vision given to those who die these terrible deaths, is that of Ergoth's face itself, visible only to them and reducing their last cry to a maddened whimper.
