Symbol : A many-tongued flame, radiating light outwards
Alignment : Lawful Good
Portfolio : Light, war
Worshipers : Paladins, zealots, those who hate undead
Domains : Sun, Fire, Law, War
Favored weapon : Mace (of any variety)
Appearance : Saros is most often represented as a human man with a powerful build, wearing plate armor and wielding a flanged mace. Depending on what aspect is being focussed on, he bears either a ring of holy light about his helmeted head, or an undying flame wreathing his weapon.
Dogma : Saros is a decidedly martial deity, and all of his followers are urged to have at least some weapons training, to be able to defend themselves should the forces of Evil try to close in on them. Those most capable of this are often sent out on crusades to push back the forces that threaten those that cannot defend themselves, sometimes sending them to far-reaching areas.
Perhaps the most striking part of Saros's personality, however, is his utter hatred of the undead. He sees them - rightly, his followers argue - as twisted mockeries of life, and fit only for immediate destruction on their discovery. This stance has caused a great deal of rough edges with Vaeles, as that city has a small but significant number of people who use the undead as constant labor. Known followers of Saros are often the first suspects in an investigation of "destroyed property" charges when they pertain to undead.
In line with his martial bent, Saros urges his faithful to man the front lines of a just and righteous battle fearlessly, keeping the lines strong and acting as a shining beacon of hope. Even the less charismatic followers become quite widely known because of this, and many of the new recruits into the faith are as a result of these brave men and women inspiring those who see them in action.
Clergy and temples : Saros' clergy prefer robes of white and gold, and many also own and maintain a set of weapons and armor, both generally kept well-polished. When a group of Paladins and Clerics who follow the Burning Light march into battle, it is a sight to behold, and many swear that the amount of light reflecting off of their well-cared-for weapons and armor is far more than what is naturally being provided.
In keeping with their deity's tenets, every ranked member of the church is familiar with at least the basics of melee combat, though not every individual stands at the front lines. There are those who prefer to make use of the spell gifts their deity provides for them, and they are not looked down upon among the other followers.
Saros' churches are kept immaculate, and those with the funds often have elaborate carvings bearing gold leaf strewn throughout. Torches are kept burning through the night, and polished surfaces take that flickering light and cast it through the entire church, making them as bright as day at all times. For the most wealthy churches, the roof may even be made of glass, or potentially made Invisible via spell, to let in as much natural light as possible at all times.
