Symbol : Eight pointed star, surrounded by eight connected, equidistant points - colorless draft seen here
Alignment : True Neutral
Portfolio : Magic, astrology, knowledge
Worshipers : Wizards, stargazers, sages
Domains : Magic, Knowledge (Must add more here)
Favored weapon : Quarterstaff
Appearance : Atheros appears as a spellcaster in long, flowing robes, in one of two ways depending on the aspect in question. Those who worship him more as a deity of knowledge often see him as an old man, while those who focus on his control over magic see him as younger, much more filled with vitality. In either case, he has a severe or serious appearance, with long hair, black when he appears younger, and white when he appears older. He is usually depicted carrying a staff in one hand and a heavy tome in the other, both bearing his holy symbol.
Dogma : All things in this world are interconnected, and changing any of them can make far-ranging alterations through reality. Because of this, Atheros teaches his followers to study all things in life, so that they may better understand how things are interrelated. After all, pulling on one thread of the weave may cause something far removed to begin to unravel.
It is said that Atheros not only allows mortals to access the tapestry of existence, but actively maintains it, weaving new threads into it or fixing where rogue spellcasters have destroyed it with careless casting. It is heavily debated whether or not he has a hand in sorcery, as opposed to just wizardry; Some suggest that sorcerers are simply so naturally in tune with certain aspects of the world that they can connect to it in the same manner as dragons; Others say that the human body and mind cannot support that sort of connection, but no evidence has been found one way or the other.
Clergy and temples : Temples dedicated to Atheros are often dedicated with astrological symbols, and it is not uncommon to see the roof of a temple decorated with magically-lit stars and constellations. They also generally contain a separately-maintained library, lit day and night by more of the same magical symbols. Some allow anyone to enter the libraries so long as they promise to be careful, while others charge a fee to enter which is used to maintain the library itself.
The clergy can often be found in these libraries when not otherwise occupied, either taking in the information to be found within those pages, or writing new books with what they themselves have learned, to be shared among the faithful. There is no real standard set of clothing for Atheros' clergy, though their robes are nearly always exceptionally well made, and frequently include astrological symbols subtly worked into the cloth.
