The blue woman begins to chant, and water begins to drip from her quarterstaff. It glows with an aura of sea blue. She smashes the staff into the creatures head as you dodge to the side and give him a matching stab wound on the other side of his body. The creature crumpled under your combined efforts, leaving you both secure for the moment. Panting and shaky from near death and adrenaline, but alive and safe for the moment. Your bet paid off.

"you alright?" she asks as her leg gives out under her again and she promptly sits down on the ground. A look of pain flashes across her face as she looks up at him. her breathing heavy and she hurts in places she didn't expect to and as the adrenaline was beginning to wear off it was starting to sink in exactly what she had done and she couldn't help but smile at her own accomplishment of fighting.

Taking some deep breathe as the adrenaline begins wearing off, and each yet-to-be bruise seems to bid for his attention. He replies with a smile and nod, "I... will be... thanks."
He wants to drop like her, but fights it off for the moment. Sheathing his rapier as staggers over to the first Lizardfolk he attacked. "Not that I don't appreciate the assist, but what brings you out here?" Securing the crossbow to himself, and reaching down to retrieve his dagger still lodged in the body. After some wiggling of the blade, it slides out. He moves to each of the down green scaled Lizardfolk. Placing the dagger near their nostrils, looking at the blade, and then moving to the next.

You stagger rather than walk, but manage to reach the collection of bodies with none of your usual gracefulness. The dagger comes free with a sluuuurp, and a gob of partially congealed blood drips from the blade. You clean the blade in the mud first to get rid of the blood, then sloshing it around in a pool of water. Checking the bodies you find that all of them are dead save one. The one that got up after being knocked unconscious is still breathing, though very shallowly.
With the sweat and exertion of battle, a lot of the mud you had caked on yourself has either been beaten off of you or washed away by your own sweat. With the loss of your protective mud layer, the bugs have returned. Even more bugs of different kinds are starting to gather near the corpses, and you can see scavenger birds circling over head. Those birds will be a clear sign to anyone that knows what to look for that meat is on the menu right where you're standing.

"You wouldn't happen to know how to tend to the wounded? One of the Green Scales is still alive... currently. We also shouldn't stay here too long. There may be more Black Scale area." Scooping up some mud, he starts reapplying an new layer of mud to keep the biting bugs at bay.

"umm i was looking for something." she said as her hand went to her pocket where the stone was resting, not sure if she can trust this new person. " i can help." she says as she stands up carefully and rather shakily before looking around for the injured green scale. "why are you out here?" she asked as she gestured to the surrounding swamp before making her way over to the green scale that was still alive. checking over his wounds and tending to them, thankful for her knowledge from madam Aceso. once he is tended to she walks over to her now mud covered companion and lays her hand on his shoulder and a soft bluish glow surrounds him and starts to heal his wounds as well.

Nods slightly. Respecting her choice to keep details from someone she just met. When she comes over, he assumes she's just checking his wounds. At least until the soft, bluish glow. Standing a little straighter as his bruises fade and cuts stitch closed. A look of surprise on his face. "Thank you. I'm here on guild business. Looking for some missing Humans. A bookish man, and 3 women adventurers. You wouldn't happen to have seen them in your travels?"

"no ive only just gotten here." she says as she steps back and looks around at the dead bodies then up at the birds in the air. Reaching into her pocket she grabbed the stone to see where she needed to go next. " perhaps its best not to get involved with the black scales anymore." she said as she started in the direction the stone was guiding her.

"I hadn't intended to this time. The six Black Scale were surrounding the four green scale with a clearly malice intent. I'm Venos, by the way. I owe you a favour, so if you're ever in Clifton..." Venos turns toward the city as their paths seem to be diverging.

As Myst pulls out a stone, she rotates slowly in a circle. Her outstretched hand ends up pointing toward the Sink Hole. She nods as if that decides something for her, then begins to walk. As she does you take note of a fifty foot length of hempen rope hanging from her backpack. Just the sort of thing one might need to reach that last little bit into the water back at the snake headed dungeon.

Venos stops and turns around, sighing slightly. He calls back to the blue skinned woman, "hey, Myst? If you can put up with some company, maybe I should come with you? We can watch each other's backs, at least until we're back in town."

Venos looks back and forth between the blue skinned woman and the surviving Lizardfolk. "Before we head out, should we do something with him? Intervening seems pointless if predators that are attracted by the dead feast on him too."
After either covering up, moving the survivor, or whatever else is decided, he feels better. Putting the remains of the battle behind them, he motions for her to lead the way. "You seem to know where you're going. I'll follow your lead." He follows Myst. Close enough to stay together, but not so close as to make her uncomfortable. "This thing you seek, is it motivated by personal or professional reasons."

Between the two of you, you manage to move the unconscious Lizard Folk a short distance away into some cover. He stirs while you're carrying him. His eyes open, and a second filmy eyelid blinks sideways. "Vass Dal'keth mo hash'nah" He says, before his outer eyelids close again and he falls back unconscious. The two of you look at each other, both have no idea what he just said. It didn't sound hostile, so there is that.

"personal." she says as they head towards the sink hole. one hand in her pocket holding her stone the other holding onto her staff as she walked along a bit of a limp in her step due to the massive bruise that was developing on her thigh. the words the green scale had said played in her head but it was not a language she recognized. Even in the swamp the bugs didnt seem to bother her and if one were to look closely water droplets seem to cling to her skin like early morning dew on a flower.

Venos shrugs at the Lizardfolk's words. A confused expression on his face as he didn't seem its language. Since it didn't sound hostile, he simply responds with, "you're welcome".
Woman of few words... okay. He travels on quietly beside her. Trying to stay alert to his surrounds. For both, possible threats like more Lizardfolk, and whatever this woman was looking.

Approaching the area of the Sinkhole by following the path you notice a massive multi-headed beast standing idle about a hundred feet away. Sitting at it's leisure on the creature's back is a green scaled Lizard Folk. The creatures both seem unaware of you, and would be easy enough to dodge around without drawing their attention. The Sinkhole itself is a massive one hundred foot diameter roughly circular hole in the ground. The hole is surrounded by a small collection of buildings, all of Human design. Walls of sandbags encircle the area to redirect the water flow away from the buildings. Human guards stand between the buildings, or patrol the grounds.
Myst, the stone seems to be pulling you straight toward the Sinkhole itself. Now that you're closer, you can feel that it's also pulling you downward. Whatever you're seeking, it lays somewhere within the Sinkhole. Venos, this place will likely have the supplies you require to tend to your issues in the Snake Head dungeon.

"I wonder what the odds are that Lizardfolk speaks common?" The rogue makes sure to sheath his weapons so he appears non-threatening for what he's planning next. He looks over, and up, at Myst. "I wanna tell him about the injured green scale. Shouldn't hurt to make friends. You're welcome to come, or head on to buildings."

"go ahead i'm gonna keep going." she said and continued towards the sink hole wanting to find out exactly where this stone was trying to drag her to. Hopefully it would help her figure out what was making her people so sick. she feared she had already run out of time to save them.

(Myst's story continues HERE.) The two of you part ways outside the Sinkhole, with Myst heading inside and Venos moving toward the Lizard Folk riding a Hydra. Venos, as you approach you see the Lizard Folk sitting casually on the back of what has your undivided attention. The beast is fifteen feet tall at the shoulder, it's thick limbs corded with muscle. It's thick legs end in claws the size of your forearm, but the thing that really has you staring is the five heads jutting out of it's body. One of the heads is lulled across the ground, it looks asleep. Three of the others are looking around, and the central head is staring directly at you. It's mouth is slightly open revealing rows of sharp teeth. Is it smiling?

"Let's hope this isn't a huge mistake." The Hin approaches the Lizardfolk and its unusual mount. Hands raised to not seem threatening. Though that idea might be almost laughable. Likely the threat he posed was possible indigestion.
Venos called up to the rider, "HELLO!? DO YOU SPEAK COMMON TONGUE? I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU."

The Lizard Folk looks down at you, casually scratching one of the Hydra’s necks as it passes by without breaking stride with the conversation. “I do small one. How can this one be of help to you?” This guy is totally at his ease, but then it’s easy to be confident when you’re riding a bloody Hydra.

"A few (hours?) back, I found six black scaled Lizardfolk attacking four Lizardfolk with green scales. I attempted to help fight against the black scales. A blue skinned woman also helped. Unfortunately, only one of your brethren survived. I can give you directions. Also, he said something but I didn't understand the words."
Venos rubs his head as he tries to remember the sounds. "Vass... Dol..? Vass Dal..? Vass Dal'keth mo hass'nah?"

“Vass Dal'keth mo hash'nah” we he Lizardfolk corrects. “The Black Scale always attack my people.” He tuts at the Hydra, gently nudging one of it’s necks. You glance to the side as a Hydra head pulls back, it’s teeth snap as it closes it’s mouth. Did that Hydra just try to eat you? And perhaps more importantly did that Lizard Folk just tell it not to?

“Perhaps that would be best.” The Lizard Folk leans back into the nest of necks, “I will try and find my kin when I’m done here.” That one head is still looking at you and licking it’s lips. Another of the heads had lulled to the ground, apparently asleep.
Where to?

"Farewell." Waving as he starts walking toward the buildings. Happy to put some distance between him and the hydra. He heads toward the closest guards.
Casually waves to the guards as he approaches them, "good day. Is there somewhere one might purchase some supplies?"

Approaching the fortifications you find each building surrounded by short walls of sandbags that keep the water at bay. Armed men step out from between the buildings, though they don’t seem to have a uniform like the guards in Clifton. “Welcome to the Sinkhole. What brings you out here Halfling?”
