Eventually the creature lays down, pulling you in close like a child with a stuffed bear. Assuming you manage to escape the beast's grasp you investigate the area. It turns out that you're in a structure made from intertwined sticks, and mud. Water seeps through small gaps here and there, forming a pool that takes up a little over half the structure. Once actual night falls, the larger creature returns. If you're laying beside the child, it ignores you. Otherwise, it picks you up and tucks you under it's kids arm. Whether it ignored you or moved you it lays down afterword.
Game Mechanics: DC 15 Strength Athletics or Dexterity Acrobatics to escape the beast's grasp. If you fail by 5 or more the creature wakes up. Otherwise you manage to investigate as above.

Lyle attempts to free himself from the grasp of the creature, after awhile of squiggling and squirming Lyle manages to free himself he jumps down from the creature and lands to the ground with a soft yet audible crunch. Lyle freezes and watches the creature to make sure he has drawn any attention. "Phew, that was too close for comfort make sure to scratch that off my barrel list" Lyle whispered as he snuck around the room. "Now I just have to get out of here without drawing any attention to myself.

You manage to free yourself from the smaller swamp creatures grasp, and search around the room. All the walls form a dome that is connected to the floor all the way around. A little less than half the room is a pool of water, which when the big one entered the room he came up from this pool. Poking around in the depths of the pool, you find that it extends off in that direction as a tunnel big enough for the larger swamp creature to traverse. You're not sure how far the tunnel goes, and in this blackness it's really easy to get lost... What's your plan?
I'm going to need a stealth to avoid detection during your exploration, and three swim checks to get out of the den and into the outside world.

Lyle looks into the dark water and back to the creature. "Nowhere to go but down" Lyle takes a deep breath of air and creeps into the water as to make no splashing sounds. "I best stay close to the surface so i dont get lost" Lyle thinks to himself as he desends into the darkness.
Lyle swims as quickly as he can once he gets fully submerged in the water. Looking ahead Lyle tries to depict if he can percieve any hint that he is headed in the right direction such as light or other wildlife.

You sink under the water and kick off the bank to get a boost of speed, and almost immediately come to a full stop. Something has your ankle, and adrenaline spikes as you imagine the large beast grabbing you. Looking back, you see a root wrapped around your foot. It only takes a second to untangle yourself. Once you take a new breath, you dive back under the water and make your way along a fifteen foot tunnel. Once outside the tunnel you surface, and can breath freely once more. You're not sure where you are exactly, but the walls of Cliften are easy enough to find from the top branches of a tree. With your bearings gathered you make your way back to the Sinkhole.

When Lyle returns to the sinkhole he colapses in a heap in the middle of a small group of guards. "You do not want to go out there, they did horrible, terrible things to me." Lyle said not lifting his head not an inch. After what seemed like an eternity Lyle sat up and looked around. "Where's Biggs? I need to let him know what i discovered in the swamp" Lyle said as he climbed to his feet. Lyle decided what better to do then to head into the mine where Biggs runs the show.

One of the guards leans over you, and picks you up by the back of your collar. He holds you at full arms length as he walks into the outpost, seems like you might stink after your close encounter with the Swamp Ogres, or perhaps just the bog water you swam through. The guard drops you off outside of Bigg's office, knocks on the door and walks off without saying another word to you. Bigg's gruff voice calls out, "What?"

"May i come in?" Lyle saying shakily "There is very important things to discuss about the swamp". Lyle waits at the door for what feels like hours listening for Biggs approval to enter.

Biggs calls out, “What you find important, and what I find important had better be similar.” The gruffness in his voice could grate cheese. After a moment with you not entering he adds, “Enter, and be quick about it.” Once you’re inside he stands, waving his hand in front of his face, “Nevermind, get out. You smell like you’ve been brewed with fetid bog water.” You skitter back outside either on your own, or propelled by Biggs stout boot. Either way, once out of doors once more Biggs rounds on you, somehow towering over you in spite of his own short stature. “Alright now, out with it.”

Lyle looks confused at biggs as he has smelled foul for so long he had become noseblind to the odor. "Well, i went to the swamp as i was directed to do and at first i saw nothing so i decided to dip into the water with the tip of my blade to see if there was anything beneath the surface..." Lyle pauses as he appear to be having a flashback to the occurance. He imagines a creature 3 times the stature of the creature he had actually encountered. "...an enormous creature of great height that could reach far above the world lives beneath the swamp they are terrifying and cruel, it had tossed me to a smaller more terrifying version of itself were i was tossed around and beaten to a pulp, my only saving grace was that it had eventually slept" Lyle finishes barely containing his horror as he told his tale of torture.
After telling his story Lyle realized that the camp may be in grave danger when they realize he is gone. "Biggs we have to warn everyone to be on guard and to stay as far away from the swamp as possible its too dangerous for even our bravest men."After a short pause lyle continues "We should relocate at least somewhat further away from the camp so we may monitor the mines but not be right on top of it" Lyle says in a somewhat demanding tone.

Biggs hrumphs, that has to be the best way to describe that sound he made. “So the Swamp Ogres are breeding again.” He nods, turns on his heel and walks back inside. You start to follow, assuming that he will give you instructions for this dire emergency, but the door slams shut just inches from your nose. “Go bathe.” Is said loud enough that you hear it clearly through the closed door.

After taking a hot bath Lyle decides to return to Biggs for more information. Upon approaching the door Lyle ponders the thought as to why he was sent out there when Biggs knew such creatures lived in the swamp. Lyle knocks at the door "Hello? May i come in?" He asks. Lyle turns the door handle and slowly opens it hoping not to disturb Biggs as for now he is unsure of what he is capable of.

Your bath feels wonderful, loosening muscles that you didn't even know were tight to begin with. You close your eyes and let yourself sink under the hot water. Drifting in that warm pool, you feel at peace as the industrial noise of the sinkhole is blocked from your ears. You hold your breath as long as you can, meditating to slow your heart rate to a crawl. Abruptly the bath attendant pulls you out of the tub. The relatively cool air and sudden return of industrial noise is a shock. Judging by the panicked look on the man's face, he must have thought you were drowning. Once you explain the situation, the fellow relaxes and you resume your bath. It takes a few minutes to settle back into place, but once you do it's just as relaxing. After your bath, you're wrapped in a fire warmed towel. It feels like a warm hug, and briefly reminds you of someone from your past. It is then that you see just how filthy the bath water is, no wonder people thought you stunk. That water looks like bog water.
Your knock on Bigg's office door is met with silence, as is your questioning greeting, and your request for entry. Turning the door knob and pushing open the door, you find the office is pitch black. Which now that you think about it is how Bigg's always keeps his office. You recall seeing a oil lamp in the room, but never have you seen it lit. You guess it's because Dwarves can see in the dark. It might also be because Biggs wants to make his office as unfriendly as possible, so the Humans that work for him will leave him alone. A few steps into the room, and you become sure that Biggs isn't even here. As you exit Biggs's office and close the door behind you, you realize that it's night time now, and Biggs is probably in his quarters.

Lyle heads back to his room to nod off for the night, plenty of time to pick up from where he left off in the morning. After what seems like days trapped lyle couldn't help but have a new appreciation for the finer things such as a bed and privacy. As the sun rises over the horizon Lyle decides its time to figure out what is going on around here from mines that go into the great deeps of the world to lizardfolk to these strange swamp creatures it was time he was let in the loop. Lyle walks down to Biggs office and knocks on the door this time with authority. "BIGGS!" Lyle yelled as he knocked loudly on the door "It's time you tell me what we are here for and what those creatures are in the swamp"
Lyle awaits an answer at the door but only after mere moments he becomes greatly impatient and throws the door open in an attempt to be taken seriously by Biggs. "I need answers and i need them now!" exclaimed Lyle before even taking the time to even notice who or what was in the room.

Sleep comes quickly, but is fitful to say the least. Every time you turn over and the blanket pulls a little too tight, you feel like the baby swamp ogre has wrapped his arm around you again. You shoot bolt upright, and are immediately glad that you're not of Human height. A Human would have smashed his head into the bunk above, where you just sit up safely. Even with being woken up a few times throughout the night, you still get plenty of sleep, and wake refreshed and ready to take on the world.
You trudge through the spongey ground, squishing and squelching the entire way to Biggs' office. Hammering on the door with your fist, and yelling about what it's time for. You get no response. You turn the knob and push open the door to see the office in the same state as last night. Biggs' deep voice, filled with an equal mixture of grumpy and sleepy erupts behind you, "You need to keep your voice-" He interrupts himself with a yawn, "-down." He puts a hand on your shoulder, and pushes you out of the way to get into his office. Assuming you don't resist, he goes into his office carefully setting down a steaming mug the size of your head. "Now, quietly, what in the nine hells do you want?"
