Shale takes out another Goblin, and Silvia finishes off the remaining one before either of them can reply to your taunts. The lot of you police the bodies, and gather near the mouth of the path to the Goblin cave. You find 50 Silver Schooners, 50 Silver Protectors, 5 Gold Galleons, 10 Gold Phoenixs and a Platinum Providence each, as well as a piece of art worth 25gp each. Lastly your party finds a Ring of Warmth, and a Ring of Mind Shielding. The Lightbringer splits the cash and art out evenly, "How should we split the rings?"
(OOC: Ring of Warmth: Grants Cold Resistance, and wearer is comfortable in temperatures down to -50F(-46C) Ring of Mind Shielding: Immunity to magic that allows reading thoughts, determining if lying, alignment, knowing creature type. Telepathic communication works only if wearer allows it. Ring can be visible or invisible while worn, action to switch. *Note* There is something more, but I wanna play with that, so please don't read about the ring. You also gain 80 experience)

Orellow sheathes his sword and doffs his sheild. He seems lost in thought as The Lightbringer deals out the coins and he seems to half reach for his sleeping bag. "Hmm? Rings?" He shakes his head. "Ring of Mind Sheilding? That'd come in handy in the woods where im from, many strange things that mess with your head there. So, if theres no objection I'd rather like that one for myself" He asks politely but still seems distracted.

Silvia immediately says, "I'm always cold, I'll trade my share of the coins for the Ring of Warmth." After your request is put in, Rupert replies, "I'm alright with you redistributing your share of the coins to take the ring instead." The Lightbringer adds, "Both rings are pretty uncommon, maybe worth about five hundred 'Nix." Silvia's share of the coins (and yours, if agreed) are redistributed by the Lightbringer, and the rings are given to their new owners. "The rings might not work right away, sometimes with worn items you have to study them. Attuning your personal weave of magic to their connection to the greater weave." With the wealth distributed, the party gathers up their belongings, and Rupert asks, "Is everybody alright to continue?"
(OOC: 'Nix, is common Clifton slang for the coin Gold Phoenix.
Both rings require attunement. Spend a short rest in contact with the ring, typically worn, focused on the ring. After the short rest you know how the ring works, and it's magical effects affect you.)

Silvia shrugs, "The Lightbringer knows his craft, I won't even have a scar. I am ready to continue." Shale nods, and the Lightbringer adds, "I am also ready to go." Rupert looks at Silvia, and says, "Breaking ranks is not to happen again, understood? I will not loose another friend to these blasted Goblins." Silvia actually blushes, but says, "Understood." While looking away. Rupert nods, "Then I am ready as well." Assuming you add your consent, the party moves down the path toward the cave itself. Arriving at the mouth of the cave, you can see two Goblins with spears posted on either side of the entrance. They look bored, but they're still staying attentive to their surroundings. The cave itself is a ten foot wide opening in a small hill that immediately angles down into the ground. The hill itself is gradual, so the opening is almost on a forty-five degree angle.

"Haha! Then, it is settled!" Orellow booms happily and marches in with the party. After arriving and seeing the bored goblins he remarks. "They seem rather bored, let us see if we csnt shake things up" Assuming the party hasnt been seen; "Mr. Forestrider would you be so kind as to knook your arrow and aim for that one on the left. And Miss Derosa would you kindly take to the right in a stealthy fashion. I will head to the left and we will meet up behind the hill. I do not wish for them to get in there and warn anyone else of our comming. So, Miss Derosa and I will come over the hill and block them from getting in and then you three feel free to attack as you deem nessacary, any questions?"

Silvia nods, and darts off into the underbrush moving faster than you think you could go, even unarmoured. Shale knocks an arrow, holding the bow nonchalantly. In his hands the bow simply belongs, the admixture of lethal and calm doesn't seem out of place on the man. The Lightbringer and Mr. Rageblade take a positions to either side of Mr. Foreststrider, waiting for your signal.

Orellow disappears into the brush making use if his extensive knowledge of forest travel to weave swiftly around trees and through the grass with little to no noise, moving around the back of the hill as planned. Assuming nothing went wrong, he meets Silvia there and draws his longsword, gripping it with one hand. He turns to Silvia and signals the rush. He bolts up the hill with light steps, and after reaching the apex he peers over it to make sure the Gobins are still facing away.

Silvia pads down the slope silently, she crosses her dagger wielding hands around the Goblin's throat and pulls her hands apart, steel parting flesh. A line of red crosses the Goblin's neck, followed by a pulsing spray of blood. The Goblin collapses backward, and Silvia gently lowers him to the ground silently. Distracted by Silvia's excellent display of stealthy murder, you miss a step and dislodge a few pebbles down the slope. The Goblin below you pivots, his eyes widening when he sees you. He draws a short sword, and a dagger from his belt and seems ready to meet your charge. Just then, an arrowhead appears where his left eye was a moment ago, and he collapses to the ground.
The party gathers at the mouth of the cave, looking inside you see a roughly square chamber approximately thirty feet square. There is a doorway centered in the far wall, but the door hangs off kilter. "Ha. Just the way I left it." Rupert says with a grin, "I guess they didn't have time to repair it since we were here last."

Oreelow breathes a sigh of relief when the giblin drops and gives a small wave of appreciation to Shale. Once everyone gathers Orellow dons his shield. "Alright, Moment of truth, stick to formation but be ready to adapt as the situation calls for it." He says softly giving Silvia a stern look before taking his postion beside Rupert and heading into the cave.

You and Rupert, followed by the Lightbringer and Silvia, with Shale trailing a little behind make your way into the entrance hall. The first chamber is almost completely empty. There is a bit of refuse here and there, an apple core yellowed with age, an empty sack with a hole in the corner, a broken crossbow, and a half eaten rabbit swarming with flies. The rotten smell of the half eaten rabbit is disgusting, and gets stronger as you approach the next door. The first few feet of the walls here are covered in crude drawings of small humanoids hunting, or celebrating around a bonfire.
Reaching the far side of the room, Rupert adjusts the door so it leans on the wall instead of blocking the doorway. You can see that after a short narrowing, the cave opens back out into another chamber. This area has dozens of small piles of straw scattered around the room. There is a narrow path leading from where you are to the exit on the far wall, a simple door, this one unbroken. The smell of sweat and unwashed bodies hangs in the air. A fat rat stands in the center of the room sniffing the air, it's beady eyes drinking in the light your party carries. At the first step your party takes into the room the rat darts off, scurrying under the door.

It is too quiet. Orellow thinks to himself and signals the party to stop at the doorway. He points his two fingers at his eyes and then toward the piles of hay. He continues holding his signal for the party to hold as he sneaks to the nearest pile of hay and runs his sword slowly through it.

You stealthy maneuver through the room stabbing any of the Goblin sized beds that could possibly contain a living Goblin. In case of trouble the party forms a loose diamond, with Rupert at the front, the Lightbringer and Silvia to the sides, and Shale behind. There was no need, as after searching through the room you found only empty Goblin beds. One of the beds had a small tattered book, if there was a cover it has been long since torn off. The writing inside is in the Goblinoid script.

Orellow breathes a sigh of releif and holds the book up to the party. "I can't a make a lick sense outta this, can any of you?" If the answer is no then Orellow tucks the book away in his backpack. His father often told him that everything has a use of some kind. Perhaps this book will come in handy at some point. "Miss DeRosa, would you be so kind as to check the door for traps of anything nasty on the other side" He asks kindly as he throws his backpack back on and makes his way to the door.

The Lightbringer says, "Let me have a look at that." Taking the book from you the Lightbringer flips through a few pages, and than blushes a bright crimson from his neckline right up to the top of his head, even his ears turn red. "This is, uh, um, it's Goblin, uh..." The man swallows hard, "It's Goblin erotic poetry." Rupert scowls, "Gross." Even Shale looks disgusted. Silvia didn't hear because she was across the room running her fingers along the doorframe, and pressing her ear to the door, "Seems clear to me." she says finally. The group forms up, and makes ready for you to open the door.

After figuring out the contents of the book Orellow turns it over in his hand a few more time before placing it in his backpack. Let us hope you were right, Pa. Orellow then heads to the door and readies himself. "Alright. We don't know whats waiting on the other side of that door so once we get through, we hold formation. Cover each other's weaknesses and work towards our strengths. If any of you have anything that can hinder an enemy I suggest you put it to use" Orellow grabs the door and looks to the rest of the party, after meeting each of their faces, he opens the door.

The moment the door opens all hell breaks loose. You see five Goblins, four forming a line with crossbows aimed at your chest, and a fifth Goblin with a large rat on his shoulder and smoke coming from his ears. You, Rupert and Silvia are immediately assaulted by a trio of blue-white energy spheres (4 damage), and a storm of crossbow bolts plink off of your shield and armour, only one bolt manages to sink into the tender flesh just above your hip bone. (7 damage) You collapse backward from the force of the energy blast, landing at the Lightbringers feet. With you no longer blocking his shot, Shale fires off an arrow knocking a pot being used as a helmet off the head of a Goblin. The Lightbringer pulls out a scroll, and chants a prayer to channel Pelor's mercy into your body. (Cure Light Wounds, +5HP) Silvia dashes into the room, dodging past the line of Goblins to harry the smoking Goblin, and provide flanking to the melee types that will charge in after her. You're prone, at 5hp, and it's your turn.

The Goblins fire off another volley, then drop their crossbows, and draw their melee weapons: a scimitar, a long sword, a heavy mace and twin short swords. Shale takes a bolt in the stomach, and he growls in pain and anger. A bolt plinks off of the Lightbringer's armour. Two bolts are aimed at you, and you manage to deflect one with your shield while dodging the second. The Goblin with smoke coming out of his ears hurls a four inch sphere of energy that slams into Silvia, when it hits a colossal roar of thunder erupts like a thousand thunder storms at once. Silvia screams as she crumples to the ground. Rupert screams, "For the fallen!" and charges into the center of the Goblin line. He manages to split a Goblin from left collar to crotch with a powerful downward stroke of his massive great sword. The two parts of the Goblin collapse on top of one another with a thickly wet splort, and a spray of bright red blood that covers Rupert, and the Goblin's companions. Shale sinks an arrow right up to the flights, into the Goblin's head that shot him. The Lightbringer charges up beside Rupert with his mace held high above his head, and as he reaches the Goblin he drops and spins, slamming the weapon into the Goblin's chest with the sound of bones snapping. The Goblin drops to his knees holding his chest and breathing in short ragged breaths. Red bubbles form around his mouth, and he falls back coughing blood.
Init: Shale 20 (6/12hp), Lightbringer 20 (9/9hp), Silvia 17 (Dying -5/9hp), Orellow 9 (5/10hp), Goblins 6 (1+caster remain), Rupert 16 (10/13hp)

Orelllow steps to the last of the Goblins, and swings his sword cutting it down. He turns to the one left standing, the smoker. With blood splattered across his face from his fresh kill, he stares down the smoking Goblin with murderous intent. He towers over the Goblin, using his size to his full advantage as he utters a single word. "Yield". Orellow derives no pleasure from killing these infantile creatures, he is a dualist. He believes in fighting on equal terms, there is no equality in killing this child-sized creature.

The Goblin smiles a wicked smile, and then darts through the door behind him, shouting back, "You will have to catch me first!" Rupert rushes to the door, trying to open it, "Damn it, the little bastard locked it." The Lightbringer drops down beside Silvia, and works on stemming her bleeding. Silvia lays still, her breathing coming now with the slow regular tempo of sleep. "She's stable, but I have no more healing in memory. We have to decide if we want to continue without her, or return to the city to rest. Also, unfortunately she's normally the one to unlock doors..." He trails off for a moment, than adds, "Unless we want them bashed off their hinges."

The bloodlust fades from Orellows eyes to his usual bombastic self. "Ha! Spiteful lil creature, isnt he?" He puts his sheild away and wields his sword with both hands to drive the blade through the wooden door on an angle so its stuck into the door frame. With that done he goe to one of the goblin corpses and picks up the creatures cross bow and bolts. He then walks over to the wall beside the door and tosses his backpack down, leaning against the wall. "I dont know about the rest of you" He says with a somewhat strained voice as he lowers himself to the ground. "But I, for one came here with the intent of getting a fur rug for Miss DeRosa. And have little intention of leaving till I do" He loads the crossbow and watches out the door the party came in. "My father once said a little rest goes a long way to winning a longer battle" He smiles his usual smile. "Shall we test his words?"

You gain a light cross bow, and you can take up to 76 bolts from the corpses. The Lightbringer tends to Silvia, making sure she is comfortable. The rest of the party rests, cleaning weapons, armour and wounds as needed. Rations are brought out, and a small meal is served. After a little more than an hour has passed, most of you are up and about with wounds, weapons and armour tended. The door that the Goblin escaped through suddenly thumps hard enough to rattle the door in it's hinges. A moment later the door shakes again, and a few splinters flake off in the center panel. Then the door explodes into the room in a shower of splinters, and the smoky eared Goblin rides into the room on the back of a large brown bear. The creature roars and locks eyes with Rupert, the Goblin begins to cast a spell. Roll Init... (OOC: ...and good luck. This bear is a melee brute!) The Goblin raises his arm, palm forward, fingers splayed and a puff of noxious green vapour envelops the Lightbringers head. The Lightbringer coughs, gasps for breath and then passes out, collapsing to the floor. Your bolt takes him in the ribs, just below his shoulder blades, and he hunches over the bears haunches. The Goblin is only remaining mounted because he is tied there. Shale's eyes widen in surprise at the interruption, but a moment later the shaft of one of his arrows protrudes from the bears left shoulder. Rupert charges across the room bringing his great sword around in a wide arc, he leaves a bleeding gash across the bears other shoulder. The bear lumbers forward slashing at Rupert with it's claws, Rupert dodges to the side. Abruptly the bear lunges using its massive size to its advantage, and it snaps its powerful jaws around Rupert's leg. With a few quick shakes of it's head Rupert drops to the ground, his thigh looking more like ground meat than anything resembling an appendage. Rupert screams, holding his wound for a moment before his eyes roll into the back of his head and he falls limp.

Your weapon sinks into bear flesh, and the creature roars with anger. Another arrow appears sticking out of its hide, but it pivots toward you, smashing you between it's bulk and the wall. It tries to bite you, but you manage to push it back just enough so it's teeth clack shut in front of your nose. It's breath smells awful, and Rupert's bright red blood glistens wetly upon all it's teeth. That's when you see Rupert stand up behind the thing, raw rage twisting his features. He shifts his grip, and drives the entire length of his greatsword into the backside of the bear. The bears eyes fill with confusion, and the world stands still for a moment before the bear slumps unceremoniously to the ground. The Lightbringer sways to his feet, "Is everyone alright?" Shale shrugs, he never took a hit, but the rest of you look like you've seen better days. Silvia is still down, and everyone but Shale is swaying where they stand.

Orellow leans against the wall, a lil shakey from his close brush with death. Not yet, Vecna. I haven't paid my debt. "I am well, Mr. Maloy" He breathes out and pushes off the wall with his back to stick his Rapiers into the bear. "Sleep beast. You've earned it" he pulls his blades back out and stumbles toward the door. "If there are no arguments then, i propose a change in order. Mr. Forestrider, If you'd be so kind as to take lead with me through the rest of this cave. The Lightbringer looks up, shock painted on his features, "You can't be serious man? You can barely stand, let alone fight." Rupert joins in, "We don't know how many Goblins are in the rest of the cave, I'm not sure going on is a good idea." Silvia twitches, and softly moans, clearly irritated by her wounds even though she's unconscious. Shale shrugs, and walks past the lot of you to take a position in the shattered doorway. He leans into the room, looking left and right, then turns back and shrugs again. After a moment he slips into the next room with bow in hand, ignoring the reinforced door while darting over to the tunnel in the right wall. As you enter the room behind him, he is turning away from the tunnel. He points his bow and arrow at the next door, and gestures toward it with his head as if to say, "Go ahead." You hear mumbled prayers behind you as the Lightbringer carries Silvia into the room, laying her gently in the corner. You also hear some new curses, and inventive use of regular words that make them sound like vile curses from Rupert. Both men take up positions beside you as you face the doorway. Rupert whispers, "We buy Shale the time he needs to shoot whatever crawls out of here, strong defense is the key here." He adds, in a lighter tone, "Oh, and try not to die..."

Orellow sighs quietly and taps the legs of Rupert and The Lightbringer with the side of his rapier, and points them both to either side of the door. Then looks back at Shale and points his head the side, signaling him to get away from the door. "Open it" He whispers. Before any argument, he follows up by saying. "I'll dodge any incoming fire and dash in to strike then Mr. Rageblade and Mr. Maloy will dash in after me while Mr. Foreststrider uses the confusion to deal as much damage as possible" Orellow says all this in a quiet voice and then takes a running stance nods to whoever is closest to the nob.
